Interior Design Art Painting Techniques, Tips and Ideas
Abstract Artwork Concepts and Colour IdeasBelow you will find some great examples of home decor artworks and abstract art concepts that a variety of Interior Designers have asked me to create with their specific colour palette in mind. The Zebra artwork series works very well when co-ordinating with black and white minimalist interior decor while the Galaxy series is perfect if you love the look of free flowing paint in your abstract art. Then you have Blizzard and the Hidden City series which has proved to be very popular with Interior Designers using contemporary wall art. The flexibility of these styles is perfect when incorporating your abstract artwork with your featured interior decorating colours. These pieces contain loads of art texture which also adds extra dimension to the multi layered interest of the artwork. In my experience, when clients come to my interior design art studio, they are attracted to abstract artwork with the same colour tones as their interior decor....although this is a normal instinct, it's often not the right one! When I do in-house consultations I take a variety of abstract artwork and inevitably it's an artwork with a splash of striking colour (usually not what the client would have been drawn towards initially) that best enhances the interior decor and makes the artwork "pop", becoming an impact piece. Try to resist the temptation of over co-ordinating abstract art with your interior design, it's contrast that brings life to a room, either by colour or subject! Most rooms feature black, chocolate, beige, chrome or grey in the furniture so adding a splash of red, green, yellow, blue, or metallics, will add contrast without dominating the room. To highlight the feature colours in the abstract artwork, simply change the cushion covers, flowers, vases or candles to tie in with your chosen feature colours. Try to stick with two highlight colours, this stops the room becoming too muddled if you aren't confident with colour (you can always add extra colour later) and makes your interior decorating outlay much less expensive. For example changing your accessories from Winter Brown to Spring Red, will change the entire vibe of the room from a cosy winter room to a vibrant spring room with just a few inexpensive accessories.
